Ruth paused in front of the bathroom and craned her neck slightly to look at her aunt and smiled. Her aunt was talking animatedly over the phone, voice booming with pride as she talked to her sister-in-law about her second eldest child, Jaqueline, who is thinking of pursuing a degree in law and with a full scholarship in hand. Ruth smiled, she too was proud of her cousin. Her aunt caught her eyes and smiled back. With a brief nod, she entered the bathroom and closed the door behind her.
